Hi
Folks, this is Daisy, a 5 y/o Refoot tortoise, also called baby girl,
and the smallest of the gang. But I can run so fast with my
short
little legs that I could win a marathon. I am a very stubborn
girl and have my own little head. If I don't want something, then I
don't want it. Georgy is sometimes bothering me to death and
always wants to buckle up on me, but when I run away, he mostly falls
on his back , because he didn't expect it. Hehe, I love to
play
this game with him. Actually I am totally obsessed with Mom's
feet. You could call me a foot fetishist. When I see her feet in the
enclosure, I run as fast as I can to reach them and to hang
around
them. I would follow these feet, wherever they go.
I rub my
head on her toes and then climb on one of her feet and don't
move
any more. While I sit on her foot, I get lots of cuddles. She rubs my
neck and shell and I am just enjoying her presence. Oh man, I
love my Mom and her wonderful feet. Life is so gorgeous.
.
Did
I hear Mom talking?
Yep,
I see the feet.
I'm
coming Mom!

I love to get spoiled and when I follow Mom, she always has some
goodies for me like some corns, grapes or hibiscus flowers.
I love to eat almost everything what is colorful. Lots of fruits,
tomatos and also cucumbers. My favorite greens are dandelions,
hibiscus, cucumber leaves, watercress, balsam and spider flower (but
only the seedlings). While worms scare me to death, I spend several
hours a day looking for dead bugs on the ground. One day I found a 3
inch huge dead bug. It took me entire 3 hours, until I could
crack
it's shell and an other 2 hours to eat it. I am a gourmet. I
don't eat fast, but steady, and I don't worry at all, when it
takes me several hours sometimes to find the stuff, I am looking for.
Always with my nose on the ground, walking through the deepest grass, I
find the most amazing things here and there. I also could
lose
myself in scratching bird poop from a rock and lick it off . This is so
yummy.
The butterfly bush leaves are always a good
snack in between. We have 3 bushes in the enclosure and when I pass
one, I grap a leave. Black eyed Susan grows directly beside our house
door, but we only eat the leaves, not the blooms. Watercress can't grow
as fast as I eat them, they are short lived in our home ;) My favorite
is Hibiscus. We only have hardy ones, because the tropicals don't
survive our winter, but I love the tropicals more. However, since we
don't have the tropicals any longer, because I ate them all, I now also
eat the hardy ones.
So much for today, I think Mom's camera batteries are dead and she
couldn't make any more pictures today. But be assured, there are coming
more
soon.
